What is NexPlan Linear?

A browser-based linear scheduling tool. It draws a Primavera P6 programme on the route as a time-location (time-distance) chart, and as a Gantt chart, with crew planning and what-if scenarios. Nothing to install.

Is NexPlan Linear a TILOS alternative?

It covers time-location scheduling from a P6 programme, in the browser and free today. TILOS is the longer-established dedicated linear tool. The comparison page says where each is the better choice.

Does it import Primavera P6 files?

Yes. It imports a P6 XER (and Excel), with WBS, calendars, resources and links, schedules with CPM, and exports an XER again.

How closely does it match P6?

It is compared with P6 in rounds. In two baseline tests, about 85,000 cells were compared with P6 and none differed. Scheduling rules are checked in further rounds, and each one is listed in the changelog. It is a young product, still being checked.

Is it free?

Yes, free today. Paid plans are planned for later, with no date yet. The price will be stated on this site.

Do I need an account?

No. You can try it as a guest: your projects stay in your browser, and File → Save keeps a copy on your computer. A free account saves your projects in the cloud (EU, Frankfurt) and shows them on your other devices. When you sign in, NexPlan offers to move your guest projects into your account.

Is it easy to use if I know P6?

Yes. NexPlan Linear follows the way P6 works (WBS, calendars, relationships, baselines, the same columns), so if you use P6 you will find your way around.

Where is my data stored?

As a guest, projects stay in your browser and are not uploaded. Signed in, saved projects are stored in a private database in the EU (Frankfurt), and each account sees only its own. You can download a programme as an XER or NexPlan file at any time, and programmes are not sold.

What kinds of project is it for?

Linear infrastructure: highways and roads, railways, pipelines, high voltage lines and civil works. The Gantt, crews and what-if views also apply to the rest of a programme.

Who builds it?

Nageb Moustafa, a working infrastructure planner. It is an independent project.
